There are a lot more options in general that you can do in combat (it’s a more open / flexible system), but perhaps that’s more of a mindset than anything.

Some PFS GMs are too nice to PCs and then lay the beat down on pregens. Personally, that breaks immersion for me, when severely bad things happen to NPCs, henchmen, and “disposable” PCs, and the PCs have a charmed life. If there’s no threat of dying, there’s almost no point in playing. It’s a really hard edge to skate at times, that’s one reason I stick to mostly modules / scenarios, they’re mostly balanced at a certain APL, so death should be infrequent.
